Nutrition at GSC
When children sit down to eat at GSC they are being offered a wide variety of delicious, healthy, and kid friendly meals. Our goal is to give children an environment where they feel comfortable and encouraged to try new things through teachers role modeling, conversing about the benefits, and giving them the freedom to make their own choice. We use a 6 week menu cycle to give the children exposure to a variety of menu items. Children who are repeatedly exposed to foods are more likely to try and enjoy them.
CACFP Program
Families help us by enrolling their children in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The CACFP is a federally funded food program that reimburses us for following their guidelines. They are committed to making sure children are being served healthy meals with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, less sweets and kids are being given the opportunity movement and exercise throughout the day. Being enrolled in the CACFP helps us ensure we are able to help children learn how to live healthy lifestyles by learning to eat nutritious meals and exercising several times a day.
